Hippie Chic

"I hate the term 'Hippie Chic' because hippies are not chic, I should know, I married one." Quoting Kate Hudson in the January issue of instyle magazine. She right, are hippies chic? Personally I think that hippies don't try to be fashionable, they just are. Okay... maybe taking showers and putting on deodorant would help them be a little more fashion forward. Honestly? Dressing like a hippie is incredibly easy and not to mention its nostalgic. Which brings me to come up with a little term of my own... The Glam Hippie. Meaning you dress up like a hippie but dress it up a little. Like a glittery dress, a headband, fringe, and a shower! But the origianl hippie? Here's how to master it; Mess up your hair a little bit and let it grow out. Wear long tye dye dresses. Put on lots of bangles and rings and necklaces. Get yourself some fringe boots. And last, but not least, oversized shirts. There you have it.
Yes, and here is that lovely cover of instyle that Kate was on. She's lovely and very amazing. I read the entire article with her and Stella McCartney doing a back and forth interveiw type thing. And she did say that quote I mentioned somewhere up there. Anyways, I love Kate Hudson, she is a style icon.

Axl Rose. Circa 1987. He was actually attractive then! And honestly? The man knew how to dress back in his Sunset Strip days before he became super famous. I just moved to California. And I see like, at lest ten, guys wearing aviators a bandanna and a bunch of jewelry. Sometimes I even look like this! Basically. He made the idea of looking like a traveling caravan gypsy cool. Why he got the plastic surgery? No idea. He looked good.

Another thing, his voice could scare the living hell out of people. And he really didn't give a flying one about anything. He was just plain cool. Now? I think he needs to get his act back together. GNR seriously needs a reunion like no tomorrow!
By the way, I have a pair of glasses like that.

Kick ass jeans! Am I right, or am I right? Acid wash/tye dye jeans have recently made a comeback. But in my mind they were always cool. Even when I was 14 (was that really only 2005?) and flared and/or skinny jeans with sequins and designs on them were all the rage. They might be considered "retro" maybe even vintage or... dare I say it? Dated? I never cared. My friends always made fun of me for going to Wal-Mart, buying a pair of cheap jeans, then throwing bleach on them. Or going t the flea market and buying an old pair. But now see DKNY, Mark Jacobs, Dior, all the big designers selling tye dye bleached jeans. And at ridiculous prices. Remember, you don't always have to be loose with your money to look good. And yuo don't always have ot follow trends. Last, but not least, cheap can be chic. I wear Designer brands and flea market buys.

Here's a music slide show

Pics # 1 and 2: Iggy Pop. Known for brutally injuring himself on stage. Iggy and the Stooges haven't been together in more than 30 years! But their relevance still remains. It's strange that Iggy still has the same body he did all those years ago! He's really in shape, in an older guy kind of way.

Pic #3: Tommy Lee. Once tried to stuff hookers into a phone booth! Yep, it's Motley Crues' s resident bad boy. As the drummer, he's probably more famous than the lead singer Vince Neil is. Even with all the tattoos he's super sexy! Hope to see them again soon. Because they were amazing at last years' Cruefest.

Pic # 4: GNR. Ahhh... Guns N' Roses. Is there anyone on the planet who doesn't know who these guys are? Quite possibly one of the most dangerous band in rock n' roll. Axl's a nut, as we all know. But was really cute during the 80's. Slash is still awesome all the time. Izzy? No one knows where the hell that dude is. Duff? Really good looking and still doing projects with Slash. And Steven Adler? If you've seen Celebrity Rehab lately he's the guy who fell back on the couch in an argument with Gary Busey. Hope they get back together.

Pics # 5 and 6: Lead Singer of Aerosmith Steven Tyler. I won't share my personal opinion on him because its... racy? Many a night I've had fantasies about this guy. Anyways... he's awesome! Still looks great for 61. I saw them in concert on the 16 (of June) with ZZ Top. Still puts on a hell of a show.

Pic # 7: Joe Perry. This is a double shot here. Two pictures for one! The one on the right is better in my opinion. Great guitar player. Chuck Berry was one of his favorite guitar players. I read the article he did on Berry in Rolling Stone. Really good. Not to mention influenced GNR. Without him, would there be a Slash? Think about that. And yes, he was awesome at the concert!

Pic # 8 and 9: Robert Plant in the first one. Then him and Page in the second one. What a great duo. Must of been awesome to see them back in the 70's. Even if Plant did that thing with Alison Krauss he's still cool. I really didn't like it. Only because I didn't think the songs were that great. Just my opinion. But Zeppelin will live on because of their great music.

Pic # 10: The New York Dolls. They don't get the respect they deserve. After all, they started the whole glam look. Most people know the lead singer David Johansen as "Hot, Hot, Hot" Buster Poindexter. But honestly? These guys have pretty good stuff. I even own an album of theirs. Matter of fact, they influenced my boyfriend's band's look. Not exactly to that extreme though...
